Three Benefits of God’s Sunshine

All sunshine and sovereign is God, generous in gifts and glory.— Psalm 84:11 The Message

As a native Texan, I am familiar with temperatures well above 100. But, there’s something about the sunshine that I love. I feel the love of God in it.  1 John 1:5 says that God is light, and that there is no darkness in Him at all. Wow! That light, my friend, is in you! If you are born again, you are His sunshine because you belong to Him. You are a piece of sunshine brighter and hotter than any Texas summer. You’re a flame burning for the Father from the Father. There are some wonderful things associated with God’s sunshine.

Here are three benefits of God’s Sunshine:

1. Healing

Just as we need natural sunlight to assist our bodies in synthesizing vitamin D, we need the spiritual sunlight of God’s Word to bring us continuous physical, spiritual and mental healing. “In Him was life, and that life was the light of men,” is the way John put it. We have light and health in our lives because of Christ. If our natural bodies are prone to depression, allergies, diabetes and a long list of life-threatening illnesses from a lack of sunshine, how much more are we susceptible to attacks from the enemy because of a lack of exposure to the true and living Sunshine of God and His Word.
Better yet, on the day God heals his people of the wounds and bruises from the time of punishment, moonlight will flare into sunlight, and sunlight, like a whole week of sunshine at once, will flood the land.—Isaiah 30:26 The Message

2. Favor

…and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.—Job 22:28 AMP

How does he know where to send His favor? He sees your sunshine! His sunshine in you! He can see that sunshine in the darkest place. You can call out to Him from a miry pit and by doing so, darkness is dispelled and favor is activated because you have released your sunshine. Philippians 2:15 declares that you are children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation and you shine among them like stars in the sky. He sees you and hears you, and don’t you ever believe otherwise. Psalm 34:5 says that because you look to Him your face will be radiant and never covered with shame. You have the sunshine of His favor!
Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.—Isaiah 60:5 NIV

3. Happiness

Your life will be brighter than sunshine at noon, and life's darkest hours will shine like the dawn.—Job 11:17 GNT

And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.—Job 11:17 KJV

The sun is the brightest star in our solar system. And you are the offspring of the Light who created that sun if you are born again. When people see you, they should feel, no matter the season, as if they’d just walked into the warm summer sunshine. Pure happiness—regardless of your personal circumstances. You don’t just bring the light, you are the light! There’s no hiding from it. Psalm 19:6 says that nothing can hide from its heat. No one should be able to avoid your rays because you are literally Mr. or Mrs. Sunshine!

Christ called us the “Light of the World.” And what is the light of our natural world? The sunlight. So be the sunlight in your home, at the gym and at school—everywhere you go! Walk in the benefits of being that light today. You are His sunshine, and He is yours. You are a precious jewel to Him—the apple of His eye. Receive His health, favor and happiness in Jesus’ name, amen!
