STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Realize that you need a savior
The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” You must realize that no matter how good you think you are, we all have sinned against God. Sin separates you from God. He is a righteous God and sin can not remain in His presence. You first must realize that you need somebody to stand in the gap between you and God because we are unable to.
2. Realize the provision for your sins has been paid
The Bible says in Romans 5:8 that “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This is the good news of God for your life. Yes, we have sinned and fallen short of God, but He loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross and go to Hell in our place. So you must realize that you can not get to God on your own, but that Jesus stands in the gap between you and God.
3. Ask Jesus to come into your life
It is not enough to just realize that you need a savior and that Jesus took your place, you must act upon this knowledge and ask Jesus to come into your life. This is not something that is highly recommended. This is a must. Jesus said in John 3 that you “must be born again.” How do I ask Him to come into my life? In Romans 10:9 and 10 it says “that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
4. Pray The Prayer
Stop now whatever you are doing and repeat this prayer out loud wherever you are:
Dear Father,
I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I now realize that I have sinned against you. I confess that I have gone my own way and done my own thing. I now confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and I believe in my heart that He was raised from the dead on that third day. Come into my life. Fill me up with your presence and your ways. I thank you for sending your Son and I commit myself to follow your ways and your thoughts.
