Stand Out with The Blessing

Posted on 08 July 2009 by Shontta Stevens

Is it possible to walk in covenant with God Most High and not stand out? I don’t believe so. According to the Word of God, it is impossible to fully obey the Covenant and not walk in the distinction of the Blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1-14). Malachi 3:12 says that all nations would call you blessed and, verse 17 magnifies that statement by declaring that people would be able to see the distinction  between the people who serve God and those who do not. This is, of course, after the tithe is given to God. Fully obeying opens the door for distinction—He wants you to be distinguished! Are you standing out or fitting in?

James said a friend of the world is an enemy of God (James 4:4). Once you enter this Covenant, you acknowledge that God is the source of all blessing. You make a distinction between yourself and the world by connecting to that source. A covenant is defined as a written agreement or promiseusually under seal between two or more parties especially for the performance of some action. Another definition describes it as a formal agreement to fulfill an obligation. The distinction of the Blessing is manifested as you perform the promised action and fulfill your obligation—total obedience. God ALWAYS honors His side of the Covenant. It’s written in His Word and sealed by the Blood of Jesus. The Bible is clear in several places about the benefits of choosing to walk in covenant with the Lord. Let’s look at some of them.

“And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.”—Deuteronomy 28:10

“… for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord…” —2 Corinthians 6:16-17

“But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself…” —Psalm 4:3

And finally, possibly my favorite on this subject is Job 11:13-20. Here’s how The Message Bible says it, “Still, if you set your heart on God and reach out to him, if you scrub your hands of sin and refuse to entertain evil in your home, you’ll be able to face the world unashamed and keep a firm grip on life, guiltless and fearless. You’ll forget your troubles; they’ll be like old, faded photographs. Your world will be washed in sunshine, every shadow dispersed by dayspring. Full of hope, you’ll relax, confident again; you’ll look around, sit back, and take it easy. Expansive, without a care in the world, you’ll be hunted out by many for your blessing. But the wicked will see none of this. They’re headed down a dead-end road with nothing to look forward to—nothing.” Wow!

If that isn’t distinction, I don’t know what is. People seeking me out for the favor that’s on me! I sincerely hope that you would meditate on this and read it out loud to yourself. This is how those of us who walk in the Blessing are to live every day—distinguished and set apart!

Be blessed friends, and have the perfect day everyday!
