The Holy Trinity—Father, Son and Holy Ghost—is familiar to even non Christians. And, most people are somewhat knowledgeable about the first two. But the third person, the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit, is mystery to most. Perhaps this is because His very being has never been a human being. It could be that proper information on the Holy Spirit hasn’t been thoroughly explained to the masses. In truth, the Holy Spirit doesn’t make you weird or spooky; instead, you become more keen and discerning. Your intuition becomes amplified. You always know what to do when you don’t know what to do. Jesus promised us this gift upon His departure. Since Christ thought it important we have the Holy Spirit, shouldn’t we be aware of why? Now just as much as ever, we need the Holy Spirit.
But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].
—John 16:13 AMP
Jesus explains clearly what the purpose of the Holy Spirit is. He tells us what happens when we allow The Spirit to dwell in us. Let’s look at the three reasons here:
- He guides us into all truth. This is for the times when you need to make a decision or are trying to get to the bottom of something. Personally, I have used this portion of scripture anytime I am looking for anything. It has been valuable in teaching my young son how to depend on the Holy Spirit to help him. Most recently, he was looking for one of his favorite toys that his father bought for him. We prayed, “Holy Spirit you know all things. Show us where the toy is. We thank you for doing it in Jesus’ name.” At first my son was frustrated because he had looked everywhere, but I told him to be quiet and go on with his day. You see, the Spirit is a gentle guide—we can’t be led while in a frazzle. A couple of days passed and we hadn’t found the toy. I asked my son, “Has the Holy Spirit ever let us down? Don’t we always find what we’re looking for?” He agreed. His faith and belief in the Spirit is strong because I’ve taught him to depend on Him for guidance. Yes, of course, we found the toy and praised God!
- He relays messages to us from the Father. This is what is called a rhema word—or a word spoken directly from God to the believer by His Holy Spirit. The verse says that He tells whatever He hears from the Father and makes it known to you. So the Spirit is, in effect, a conduit or channel to the Father and we gain access by the Son Jesus Christ. This is why prayer in the Spirit (in other tongues) is mandatory if you want clear messages from the Father. At some point, we need to shut off our natural minds and pray the perfect will of God. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:14, “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.” Sometimes we are like my son, so mentally frustrated that we can’t hear what God is trying to say to us by His Spirit. But, when the rhema word comes and tells us exactly how to handle a situation, it always leaves us in awe. Praying in the Spirit and praying the Word—these are the only two ways I know to pray the perfect will of God. Then, those messages from Him become more clear and easier to recognize.
- He tells us what will happen in the future. Wow! Who knows how many volumes could be written on the testimonies from this portion of the verse? How many scores of believers have averted disaster, become wealthy and broken engagements because the Spirit told them what would happen in the future? I’ve noticed however, individuals be hindered at two extremes. On one hand, the Spirit tells them the future and they become afraid and shrink back. On the other, some become arrogant and trample God’s grace and favor by self righteous acts and narcissism. Nevertheless, don’t be stifled! God always provides provision for the vision. After all, it is His vision for your life (Philippians 1:6). Joshua saw his future and God himself encouraged him to be strong and courageous (Numbers 14; Deuteronomy 1:38; Joshua 1). Forty years prior, Joshua saw what his future held. He could have become arrogant or fearful being privy to this information, but he held fast to the promise of God, got quiet and lived his life. Do you need to know your future? Get full of the Holy Ghost and He’ll tell you.
If you have not had an Acts 2 experience, this is what is necessary for you to receive the gift of tongues. The Holy Spirit is not supposed to lay dormant in you. You must exercise it daily in prayer. Allow Him to guide you as the verse says. This will revolutionize your thinking and change your life! Solomon wrote in the Old Testament, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:5-7).”I know people all around you are panicking, but if they were saved and full of the Holy Spirit they would be at peace. What about you? Are you afraid? Confused? Don’t know how to handle your situation? Trust in the Words of Christ, get baptized in the Holy Spirit and pray in the Spirit—He will guide you into all the Truth.
Be blessed friends and have the perfect day everyday!

Good one Shontta, knowing and understanding the Holy Spirit of God should be a priority as Jesus proclaimed it Jn 14:26
You understanding will be added to what my understanding is. Thank you.

Four Voices or you..
There is within all of us the voice’s we hear and most have many ideas of what they are, where they come from and how to understand where they come from.
The inner voices are: your 1. Flesh (soul) your mind, will and emotions. 2. Your spirit. 3. The Holy Spirit. 4. Satan
1. Your Brain (soul) is your flesh.. It is not going to live forever.. It will die with your body. Your soul is the central control center for your body. Your soul or brain reacts to what your five senses tell it. Your soul is what you sound like when you speak. It is your brain telling your vocal cords what to do. And it is your brain that processes what you hear..
Your spirit, The Holy Spirit and satin all are processed by your brain.
2. Your Spirit. This is the real you. This is “the you” that is born again. This is the new creation within you. When you hear your conscience, you are hearing the voice of your spirit. Your spirit seeks after truth. And your spirit responds to everything that is good and hates everything that is evil. You can know who you listen to with the choices you make. Your Spirit will always let you know what the choices are. Your brain will only react to what is good for the flesh.
When your spirit, or inner man talks to your brain, guess who your spirit sounds like… yes…you, because it is processed through your brain. Your spirit man will not use fear, guilt or intimidation to get what it wants.. It responds and delivers in love. Fear, guilt and intimidation is a fruit of the flesh.. Faith, hope and love are a result of the Spirit.
3. The Holy Spirit of God. John 14:26 says that Jesus sent him in his place to bring peace and to teach and bring remembrance as to all things He has said and taught.
The Holy Spirit talks directly to your spirit.. When God and the Holy Spirit want to really get your attention, He, the Holy Spirit within directly get your brain out of the picture by short circuiting the connection between your spirit and your brain.. This is what is referred to as being “slain in the Spirit”.
When the Holy Spirits speaks to your spirit.. again this is processed by your brain and guess who the Holy Spirit sounds like.. right.. Yourself…and most of the time it is in the language that we know–the Holy Spirit and your spirit becomes one and with His teaching you learn the truth and the truth will set you free.
Jesus said that he had come (John 10:10) to bring life and more abundantly, while the thief comes but to kill, steal and destroy.
The Holy Spirit can only respond and say what the Word of God is and says. Therefore it is very important to read the Word of God so that you know when the Holy Spirit is talking to you and this is in a still small voice. The Holy Spirit does not use fear, guilt or intimidation. He is love and is full of mercy and grace and only judges by the word of God.
The voice of the Holy Spirit is the most easy to recognize and is confirmed by the Word of God.
Then the last voice.. Satan. Satan is the thief; he is a liar and cannot tell the truth. He will misquote scripture and twist it. He will use fear, guilt and intimidation to confuse you from knowing the truth.
He will emotionally abuse you. He only speaks through your brain and your flesh.. He cannot read your thoughts… he guesses…but he can read your signs… Satan is revealed by your knowing the word. Knowing that he uses fear, guilt and intimidation to accomplish what he wants.
Satan’s voice will sound just like you, because everything is processed by your brain. Satan has access to you through your five senses. Seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting
So the 4 voices are YOU, YOUR SPIRIT, THE HOLY SPIRIT AND SATAN.
If you are to live a wonderful, victorious, fear, guilt and intimidation free life, you must learn how to recognize these 4 voices otherwise you will be in a state of confusion, which is where one is that doesn’t know which “Truth” to believe. Confusion is the place between deception and the truth.
When you know the truth the truth will set you free.
